Ed Gehres was quoted in a Bloomberg Law article examining what the midterm election results could mean for efforts in Congress to regulate litigation finance.
The article reports that Republican-introduced bills on disclosure requirements and outside investment in U.S. litigation face a difficult path once Democrats take control of the House. It also notes that the threat of regulation hasn’t gone away. Proposals are likely to keep advancing at the state level, and industry opponents may press for executive action from the Treasury Department.
Ed told Bloomberg Law that the industry should use this period to stay vigilant, organizing and conducting research to build political capital while the pressure is lower.
